Mark Meadows Federal Court Decision

Trump White House Chief of Staff's Request to Move Georgia Election Interference Case Denied

Federal Judge Dismisses Mark Meadows' Attempt to Escape State Charges

Federal Appeals Court Upholds Judge's Decision

A federal judge in Georgia has rejected former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows' request to move his racketeering case out of state. U.S. District Judge Steve Jones denied Meadows' motion to dismiss the charges brought against him by the Fulton County District Attorney's office, which accuses him of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

Meadows, who served as President Donald Trump's final chief of staff, had argued that his federal role during the election justified the transfer of his case to a federal court. However, Jones rejected that argument, ruling that Meadows' alleged actions in Georgia fell outside the scope of his federal duties.

The decision marks a significant setback for Meadows, who is facing multiple criminal charges related to his alleged efforts to pressure Georgia officials to alter the outcome of the election. The denial of his request to have the case moved to federal court suggests that the Fulton County prosecutor will have jurisdiction over his case.
